Over 40 years ago, Frank and “Babe” Van Ness opened a small shop on Erie & 17th, building a legacy on handmade pies and good old-fashioned service.
The Name You Know
Mike and Karen Mohrle carried that torch next, rebranding to U-Know Pizza and running strong out of 96 E Market Street. They kept the focus on fresh, from-scratch food and community vibes
The Bir Family Era
In 2017, the Bir family took over the shop, determined to honor the past while pushing things forward. We kept what worked—bold flavors, real ingredients, no-nonsense recipes—and brought our own energy to the mix.
Rising From the Fire
In December 2020, a fire shut down the Market Street location. But we don’t fold easy. We rebuilt, relocated, and came back stronger than ever. You’ll now find us at 516 E Broadway, still slinging pizzas, breadsticks, and the best buffet in town.
